The Last Few Weeks....

It has been a while since I have updated and I'm sure you can only imagine why. A little blue-eyed baby girl has kept me pretty occupied. Caroline Hazel Mort finally made her entrance into the world on Monday, June 30th, 2014. I'm not sure she was quite ready to come out but I sure was ready. I am going to back track a little and fill you in on the past few weeks. It all started on June 20th when I went for a weekly checkup. My mom had went with me because it was an early morning appointment and Chris needed to work that day. My nurse came in as always and checked my blood pressure, at first she said she could not hear it very well and wanted to do the other arm. She then took it three more times on my right arm. I knew by the look on her face that something was wrong. She told me to lay down on my left side immediately and take some deep breaths. I asked what was wrong and she said my BP was extremely high and she was going to find Dr. Bell. Of course, he was in a C-section that had turned into a full hysterectomy. After about an hour of laying down my BP finally came down a little bit. Meanwhile, Dr. Bell had finally came in. He was very concerned with how high my BP was but did not think Caroline was ready to come. He then said the two words that I prayed I would never hear.... BED REST! I was devastated. I begged and pleaded to  not have to be on complete bed rest. I promised that I would rest all weekend if I could please return to work on Monday, but he said that was not an option. So I began the dreaded journey of bed rest. Luckily it was only for a few weeks because I almost went crazy. I couldn't sleep because of everything on my mind so I pretty much ate, watched TV, looked at Facebook and Pinterest and did a whole lot of CRYING! I was an emotional wreck and the days passed by soooo slowly! Dr Bell wanted to see me back the following Monday for another checkup. Over the weekend I just knew that I had made some progression and that he would schedule an induction on Monday. Monday finally came and I was so excited to get out of the house even if it was just for an appointment. Chris took off work and we went early that morning. Once again I ended up being very disappointed as I had not progressed at all and he wanted to see me back on Thursday. So back on bed rest I went. We had a late afternoon appointment on Thursday so I was prepared for a long wait. When we got called back, the nurse informed me that I would be doing a stress test to make sure the baby's heart rate would stay up if she moved. We passed the stress test with flying colors. WhooHoo! Then comes the BP check, once again my BP was sky high. I laid on my left side for over an hour and this time it wasn't coming down. Dr. Bell came in and said he thought it was time to have a baby. He had his nurse call downstairs to see if they could get me in that night. I was finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel only to be once again disappointed when Kathy came in to tell me they were completely full downstairs. We discussed our options with Dr. Bell and decided to be put in on Sunday night (June 29th) to be induced. We finally had a date and knew that Caroline would be here by Monday if not before. We were both very excited but the nerves had also finally set in!

JUNE (Finally)

Caroline's birth month is finally here! I have to say this pregnancy has flew by until NOW! This last month is dragging by. May was a busy month for us which helped pass the time. We went to a childbirth class and two breast feeding classes. I thought they were all very informative, Chris just thought they were boring. Ha!! I also had my second shower this month. The amazing women I work with threw a great shower for me and my other co-worker who just had her baby. We both received so many great gifts. Caroline will never go naked for sure and I will probably be able to change her multiple times a day with all of the cute clothes she has. My sleep is now interrupted by an active bladder and I am up more than I can even count on two hands, which is so frustrating to a person who LOVES her sleep. I am still working and my swollen feet and ankles are proof of that but I do not plan on starting maternity leave until the day I deliver. We are seeing Dr. Bell every week and so far we have had a tiny bit of progress at each check, I would like more progress but hey a little is better than none. We seen Dr. Bell today and instead of going back in a week he wants to see us in 4 days. I am so ready to see what/who she looks like, how much she will weigh, and if she has any hair. My ultimate cravings right now are Snow-cones and orange sherbet freezes from Braums. This weekend is Chris's birthday so we will be celebrating him all weekend. He really wanted Caroline to share his birthday with him but that doesn't look like it will be happening. Hopefully the next time I post will be pictures of Miss Caroline!!

Getting Closer!!

Last day of April so we are another month closer to June. We had our last ultrasound today and a check-up with Dr. Bell! It is so crazy to think the next time we see Caroline will be when she makes her appearance into the world! So far our ultrasounds have been pretty long and difficult due to the fact that Caroline is either camera shy or very stubborn (like her daddy), so I was a little prepared for it to go the same way today and of course a mother knows her child best. Caroline was not in a ball this time but she did not want to move her hand/arm out of her face. The ultrasound tech tried everything to get her to move but I think the more she tried the more Caroline got mad and would not budge. We did get a few good pictures but I guess we will just have to wait to see when she gets here!! She weighs approximately 4lbs 6oz which is in the 54th percentile of growth. Dr Bell says she is head down and is growing at a great rate!! He suspects that we will have a 7lb baby. We shall see. I weighed 7'12" and Christopher weighed 8'15" (eek) We are going every two weeks for check-ups now and soon it will be every week! April was a busy month for us and May seems to be even busier.  We had our maternity pictures taken by my very good friend Britney Young. She will also be doing Caroline's newborn pictures. Go LIKE her Facebook page "Britney Young Photography" April 12 was our Baby Shower and it was wonderful. We are blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends and family who love Caroline just as much as we do already!  Then last weekend, I had the privilege  to attend Gerber's Mother-to-Be event. It was great and they loaded  us up with a trunk full of Gerber/Nestle products!! May will be just as busy with wedding's, childbirth and breast feeding classes, and holidays!! The nursery is starting to come together with just a few minor details to finish. I would say if Caroline came a little early we would be ready!!!

Hello 3rd Trimester

Someone told me that June would be here before I knew it and I am beginning to believe them. This pregnancy is flying by. It is hard to believe we are already in April. Things have been going well with the pregnancy as Chris and I continue to be busy with work and preparing for Caroline's arrival. Caroline has became very active and I now feel her move a lot, Chris has even felt her move several times which he loves! I was off the week of Spring Break so we took advantage of that and got the nursery somewhat ready. My mom came and painted it for us and it looks great. Chris then assembled the crib! We had our 28 week appointment today where I had to do my glucose test. The orange drink was bearable but I am hoping to pass and not have to do it again. I also had to get some shots due to my blood type being O negative.  So lots of needles today for mom, but better me than Christopher. HA!! We are now starting every 2 week appointments rather than 4 weeks and we will have another ultrasound at 32 weeks. :) I am so thankful for my cousin Leslie who sent me two huge tubs full of maternity clothes all the way from OKC. My clothing selection was down to sweats and tshirts but I now have a full wardrobe! Lots of exciting things this month; maternity pictures, baby shower, Gerber day and I am sure more things to to come up. Hopefully next time I blog I will have some 4D ultrasound pictures to post on here!!!!

Glucose test drink.... Lots of Sugar!!!

Chris and I went to Hot Springs for the weekend to his cousins wedding then to Oaklawn! We had a blast!!!!

It's just a Name.....

Who knew picking out a name would be so difficult? Chris and I have been having such a hard time with narrowing down some names. When we first found out we were pregnant we tried making lists and no luck. We decided to wait until we knew the gender before we did anymore research. When we found out we were having a Girl we looked through books, magazines, the internet, anywhere you could think of. We knew we wanted her middle name to be Hazel after Chris' maternal grandmother but we were stuck trying to figure out a first name. He liked something and I hated it or I really liked something and he hated it. We are both very stubborn!! Haha!! We kept going back to one particular name that from the very beginning of the pregnancy had been one that we agreed on. So after many stressful nights of hours on the laptop and iPad we decided that our search was over... Baby Mort is now officially Caroline Hazel Mort. We have grown to love the name and talk about her as "Caroline"   We can't believe how fast everything has been going and if we blink June is going to be here before we know it!! Exciting times are ahead in the Mort household!

It's A........

So far 2014 has been pretty great!!!! We had our first ultrasound on January 10th to determine if Baby Mort was a boy or a girl. We found out at this appointment that we have a very stubborn baby who also seemed to be camera shy. Our poor ultrasound tech had me practically upside down trying to get Baby Mort to flip over. Chris and I found out the gender but had to keep it a secret until the next day which was when we had a Gender Reveal party with our family. That evening we watched Madison in homecoming as she was nominated as the Sophomore Maid and she was absolutely Gorgeous!!!!! I was harassed and bribed by all of our family and friends begging for me to give a little hint on Baby Mort's gender but Chris and I never budged. I was actually quite proud of myself considering I wanted to explode and tell everyone!! The next day was spent preparing for the big Reveal. We ordered a cake that we would cut into to show the gender. That  night our family and very close friends gathered at the Strunk's house and we cut into the cake revealing that Baby Mort is a precious baby GIRL!!! We could not be more excited for this adventure. Chris is already thinking about Softball, pitching lessons, and teaching her how to play the Xbox . Of course all I think about is pretty dresses and lots of hairbows. Our families are both very excited and now we can just prepare for June!!!!

2013 (Summary)

Well, I know I said Last year that I was going to do better with this blog but as you can see it has been a year since my last post!!!! I thought I would do another update and hopefully not wait a year to post again.  2013 has been somewhat of a crappy year until recently. I've always heard 13 was an "unlucky" number and after the year was halfway over I began to believe it. But it did get better!! Chris and I celebrated our One year wedding anniversary in May. We both continued to work as usual and I continued with another semester of school. In the beginning of October I started feeling a little "weird." So I decided to take an at-home pregnancy test. And to my surprise it immediately showed 2 blue lines! In disbelief, I chose to take a 2nd test and same results!!! I knew I had to tell Chris as soon as he got home! Being the great husband that he is, he usually empties my lunch box and gets it ready for the next day so I slipped the two tests into my lunch box. When he went to empty it he found the tests and was ECSTATIC!! He has been begging for a baby since we started dating so I knew exactly how he would react!! Baby Mort is set to arrive June 20, 2014!!  We had our first doctors appointment in early December where we got to hear the heart beat. Baby Mort's heart rate was about 160 and Dr. Bell said everything seemed Great!! We go back on Jan 7 for another appointment and mommy has to have her lab work done. Then on Jan 10 we will have an ultrasound to determine if Baby M is a He/She!! Daddy is hoping for a Boy and Mommy a Girl but of course as long as Baby M is healthy we don't care either way!! The holidays came and went rather quickly this year and we loved seeing all of our families and friends!! Until next year (2014)
